Adobe Illustrator CS3
Ok, so I accidentally opened an Illustrator file in the new version of illustrator, CS3, and I started playing around with it. It actually is a better program, it makes it way easier to select elements, and all the tools are close at hand. The next video I make will be in CS3, and if some action differs from CS2 I'll tell you how to do it, but I strongly urge you to DL and try it. I think you'll like it.

Ok, learn clipping masks, they're real easy and are great for working with the cells. Mayhap I'll make a quick video for you tomorrow. I spent some time putting this guy together today.
We definately need to devote some time next week to brainstorming good story ideas, then we can build the cartoons around them.

It's true!

Ok, so I've been working on stuff, so I'll put some more up later today, for now here's something I've had on my mind for awhile.
Oh, and I'm working on a 3 or 4 part series that shows me using Illustrator from the raw scan to polished piece. I've got audio narration too so you's can here my sweet sweet voice. I'll email you the first one in a bit-

Is Fudgicle Too Racist for the Public?
Does he offend? It's just because it's our first black character. But he's not even black, he's brown. Brown like a fudgicle. I don't think it's racist. There's no other race that a personified fudgesicle could possibly be. I could make a banana cremesicle and name it Eminem. And they could live in a popsicle box house.
There, I did something
Trying to develop my skills. Yeah, backgrounds are hard. I'd like the stars to kind of fade into the rest of the background. So they're not so cookie cutter or whatever. How might I do that? Should I just adjust the graient to incorporate some red and yellow, or can I mess with the opacity?Answer: You can decrease the opacity and set a gradient that blends in... Unfortunately, I atleast cannot find out how to set a gradient with 100% opacity on one end and 0% on the other... there has to be a way, Photoshop lets you do that!

Risk: Not Just For Humans Anymore

No, I didn't use the stroke tip, I just used a fatter marker when I was going over my drawings in pen. I will have to start using the stroke thing though, because I didn't do such a hot job on some of the others.
You know, it would be really easy to make little animations. I don't know what programs to use, but we could even print out characters to a thicker stock paper and then put them in real world environments and do cheesy stop motion animations.
Today smells like roses.
Hey, those are looking good, did you use that stroke pointer I gave you to get the outlines thick? Oh, I found this program that video captures your computer screen. I'm gonna upload a short clip of me using the gradient tool, see if that helps.
Top of tha Mornin!
I think I missed a post. You'll have to spank me with nachos. So I'm kind of getting gradients now. I still don't know how to change the direction by dragging the line. I mean, I get the concept, but I don't get how dragging the line sets the gradient and then you have to apply it or something... I drew 6 characters today. and it's only 10am.
